are over 19,000 care homes in UK providing long term care to the
elderly. Some residents in care homes will need help and support
with day to day tasks just because they are elderly and frail, others
will need nursing care because of their medical condition, and some
will need care because they are suffering from a mental illness
related to old age, for example dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
